Bangkok Anti-Goverment Demonstrations 2013-12-09

Bangkok Anti Government Demonstration

I’ve been in Singapore for the past 3 weeks working a project there. While I was away from Bangkok there have been many demonstrations to protest the current government for many reasons. I got back to Bangkok over the weekend and today while I was at my condo I got a call that the main road (Sukhumvit) people were marching. I took a break from working to see what I could see. Here are a few videos and some pics that I took. This was going on 250 meters from my condo but I never would have known if my friend hadn’t called to tell me this was going on. :-)

Hi, i am wondering if the protest is getting bad enough that tourist needs to avoid bangkok totally? I will be arriving on friday hence a little concern about the situation.

The protests are very localized. You can be within 1km of the protest and unless you are right there, you will not know its going on. The news is worse than what it looks like day to day here. Maybe it can affect traffic but overall not any worse than normal.
